Cancer or Not?

Hello:

About a year ago, I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis. My AST/ALT levels were 2200 and 850 respectively. They put me on about 100MG daily of prednisone and did a subsequent biopsy. They found bridging fibrosis (stage 2) throughout my liver. I am right now on 5MG prednisone and 100MG imuran daily. Recently, I have noticed my belching getting quite a bit worse - it really is getting pretty bad and that I occasionally get stomach pains. I went into my doctor to check my LFTs again, and they all came back normal. Also, I have lower back pain. I have trouble eating and drinking enough, otherwise I get way too full. I told all this to my doctor and she didn't seem too concerned. Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

bentleym, I am very sorry about your health concerns. No of us can tell you with any degree of certainty it you have Liver Cancer or not. The most we can do is to continue to work with your own medical team to explore this possibility. My inclination is to go with what your doctor said and don't worry about it. However, doctors have been known to take a less than aggressive approach to what eventually turned out to be a cancer. You can always get a second opinion... especially if you are going to a small to medium sized medical center.
