Its been a very rough month.
My 84 yr old Mom battled pneumonia (5 days in the hospital) after her 1st Chemo of Taxol and Carboplaxtin...
they now will only give Taxol and do it once a week....
again I wait to see when she will be sick again...
it has us all so concerned.

The doctors don't talk to us, they just tell us what they are going to do and we go along, meanwhile waiting and wondering what will happen
I' m ready to get Hospice involved, if for nothin else, just to give our family insight as to what to expect, especially after what Mom went through from her last Chemo....I guess I am just tired,,,,any thoughts

Trudy, I am so sorry to hear that your mother is not doing well. It sounds like you are under a lot of stress too. Do you have a good support system in place for yourself? Hospice can really provide a lot of services to you and to your mother.

You and your mother continue in my thoughts and prayers.

My Mom has told me she does not want to know anything...meanwhile this has brought great stress of not knowing what to expect....I realize everyone is different, yet there are the basis...

She did end in the hosiptal 5 days after her last Chemo nd was there for 5 more days...she was so sick with peunmonia.

I did talk to a friend tonight who works for Hospice and she informed me that Hospice can get involved while Mom is being treated with Chemo.

We were told at the hospital that she could not get help from Hospice unless 1st: My Mom decided to stop Chemo and 2nd: The hospital would have to tell us thst there is nothing they can do for her....such poor communication and i just want to do the right thing..

needless to say it has effected my work and I may have to go on a differenece schedule of every other week. I am an nurse, LPN and I work at a Behavioral Health Facilities and it is VERY draining. and I have been finding freinds to stay with her while I am at work...my husbnad is wonderful and is such a help. sorry I did not mean to rattle off, just needed to talk, thanks for being there
