Alternative cancer treatments--HELP

Hi! My sister has been fighting cancer since 1993. She had cancer of the parathyroid and thyroid along with lung cancer. She had all operated on in 1993 when they removed 1/2 of one lung. She had radiation, chemo etc. 2 years later she had 1/3 of other lung removed. She has been going through chemotherapy for almost 2 years now more on than off. She just found out the cancer is back in the lung and also found in stomach. I have been looking at all these alternative treatments with what seems to be "maricle" results. Is this stuff for real or if we try that route, is it a waste of time and money. I want her to get better. She is a fighter but feel she is losing this battle. ANY help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks a million.

It sounds like your sister is already a miracle survivor for such a long period of time!

In my opinion, if they sound like miracle cures, then they are as phony as a 3 dollar bill. Certain supplements have been shown to aide the immune system or even help with inflammation. A lot of sites look like the real deal, but are just taking your money. If you want to seek alternative/supplemental therapies, consult with a licensed Naturopath. The will coordinate any supplements with the oncologist's treatment. It's best to keep with the traditional therapy along with any other treatment as long as the oncologist approves.

How terrible for your family!! I am so very sorry. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi again, Thank you for the information PBJ and Jim. I spent several hours on the computer last evening reading about those "maricle" cures and tumers disapearing by taking suppliments. They give you so much hope. My sister has had a major battle with the disease, but, she is a fighter and we have been lucky to have her as long as we have. I know she will keep fighting this as long as she has the energy to do so.
Yes, my family has gotten hit this year with my 87 year old Mom diagnosed with breast cancer (mastectomy is tomorrow) and now my sister with her cancer returning and now spreading. Thank you for your caring words. We have prayers going around the country and I am sure they will help them and the family get through this. We have 10 kids in our family and all are quite supportive. It is great to have extra sholders to lean on. Thanks again.

All my research including the first research by the Cancer Research Institute will tell you. SUPPLEMENTS DO NOT HEAL - NEVER COULD HEAL AND NOT DESIGNED TO HEAL ANYTHING PERIOD.

The Father of Cancer Research discovery was to allow the body to kill the cancer with a fever brought on by his toxins (found Coley's toxin was found in unprocess milk) yes his research had better results than any Radiation or Chemo at that time. These toxins were not produced after 1953. Some patients were documented to live another 26 years and these were ones with no hope.

Does your body have the capibility of producing these supplements? YES This is fact. If however, your body is depleted, your immune system stuggles to do this. Chemo absoluety distroys the immune system. If someone is not doing something to extra to help their immune system or if they do not have an already strong immune system....

I don't mean to seem abrupt but we now have babies on chemo and if you are set on drugs being the answer, please allow me to give a totally different suggestion. Or one that has been lost. Maybe some research person will have the latest testing or look into the most basic of questions.

Question: Why would the human body heal broken bones and not have the ability to rid itself of cancer. Is our society so insistant on instant response that studing the working of the body with it taking time to heal is beyond us. If you break a bone and decide you did not believe in putting it into a cast and waiting one the body to do the work - what do you think might happen?

Some of the items I am finding pertain to what helps the body produce those natural killer cells that take out cancer, etc.

ladyhawk57, yes there are alternative ways to heal cancer.have you ever went to www.mercola.com.he is a m.d. doctor with many years of experience.he will definitely change your point of view on medicine and todays doctors.i would advise you to check it out and tell as many people that you can.chemo and radiation causes cancer and that is a scientific fact.some people it works for but for the majority it kills them just as it killed my mom april 5 of this year. i feel i need to express to as many people as i can because there are more deaths than not and i feel so many doctors are making money off of people and not helping them.there is such a slim chance of survival with chemo and radiation.so why put the poison in your body?

First if you are looking for an alternative supplement to heal, you will not find one. The body was made to heal itself with plant based ingredients.

I know students are now studing cell to cell communication and they are trying to develop synthetic based products but with no results. To date only plant based products are showing results. With the cells communicating, they are able to identify cancer and attack. Please read basic immune system from high school web sites pertaining to the immune system. Right now I only know of one company with this discovery and it makes too many people mad to mention because it is a network marketing. You do not have to join the network to buy however.

I found more information tonight as to why America stopped the study of plant based medicine and I will copy below. I, however, have not had the time to validate everything in this article.

The End of Plant-based Medicine
Around the beginning of the last century, Rockefeller and Carnegie obtained control over medical school education through the use of the Flexner Report which was written by Henry Pritchett, who was in the employ of Rockefeller. This report rated medical schools and strongly favored only the medical schools that concentrated on using drug-based treatments. These schools started to receive large amounts of money from Rockefeller and Carnegie. In 1905, 160 medical schools were in operation. By 1927, 17 years after the Flexner Report, the number had dropped to 80. Nearly all the schools that taught plant based medicine were gone. From then on, pharmaceutical company control of medical school curriculums was assured by the large amounts of money they would "give" to the schools for approved research. That research of course was approved or disapproved by the pharmaceutical companies. Only research that would lead to treatments that could be patented received approval. That eliminated any treatments derived from plants.

You might imagine why there is so much negative news and hate toward the discovery. This discovery has a larger impact than just cancer as it affects all disease in the body and I will be honest, I thought it was snake oil because my question was why is this technology not plastered over every tv and radio station. ANSWER: The news would have to read - New Discovery - God really did make your body to heal itself.

If you saw 20/20, the little girl who refused treatment to go on this product - it was a terrible negative article. They just forgot to finish the story as she is cancer free. If it were not for the internet, do you think anyone would know this?

I have met many who have become cancer free but some who did not and this has so baffled me. From all I read about Dr. Coley's discovery and then simple study of the immune system, my question has been what makes one have results and not another? Could it be they surpress the one thing that Dr. Coley believed killed cancer cells by taking asprins or tylnol every time their fever rose? Or was it that they just could not believe and decided to add other things?

Then really, since doctors have not studied plant based medicine since the early 1900's, do we really expect them to know how these products work in the body? I was told it is illegal for a doctor to prescribe supplements yet on this board, some say their doctors did this. We do not have one who would here. They say they could lose their license.

Hi All, Thank you so much for the information. You are all great. I had a real maricle happen over the past week with my sister who has been living with several cancers. I went to her uncologist on Friday the 4th of April. Her prognosis was really grim. Either go back on Traciva (a drug that made her deathly ill in the past) or they were going to call in hospice to keep her comfortable till the end. Well, my Mom before her masectomy surgery(March 27th) was praying for my sister and opened a book and read about this immune boosting herb called astragalus. We found it for her my sister at a health food store. I told her to take it because at this point, what did she have to lose?? One week later, she went for a follow up appointment with her uncologist. They were all FLOORED with the progress she has made. Her uncologist actually hugged her. From near death to up and doing well. She is also taking blue-green algie and some other immune boosting vitimans. I was also floored when she drove herself to my Mom's house and was wanting to have a celebration drink with me. I have to admit, although I was skeptical about having her take anything but the doctors advise, once they gave her the death sentence, ANYTHING was better than nothing. So, I am SOLD on alternative medication. I just need to find one that is compatable with cumadin for my Mom's recovery from breast cancer....So, on we go..............Thanks again...........Valerie (LadyHawk57)

I am sure others will have their favorites but I am sold on Mannatech. They are predigested - food. And the reason doctors cannot prescribe is because you cannot prescribe a hamberger (or food). The side of each bottle will tell the ingredients but the one that I think sets them apart is the ala vera. They figured out how to keep it active until mixed with water.

Also, you do not have to be in network marketing to buy. Just go to their web site and order. A local pharmacy sells it but their prices are much higher than from the web site.

Pharmacy who sells it. I thought I would include - O'Conner Drug in Ponca City, OK. His wife who had MS can now walk and he said she had tried everything else. MS is auto-immune and cancer is immune disorders but it works on helping the immune system. Again, I am not saying food heals - just allows the body to heal itself.

Keep up the great work and you may want to be sure to start buying your food from a farmers market. Too long a story to go into but the food on the shelves can have altered genes. Not good for us.
