Hello everyone
I'm glad I found this forum. I have a few questions.

I'm almost 20 years old and I'm so worried.
I have a mole that's raised. I dont know from how long ago, but I noticed some months ago that there was a white dot on the mole. Now a few days ago, I noticed the little white dot on the mole decrease in size. It's much smaller now that in was before, but it's still noticable.
The mole doesnt itch or burn or anything, but it's tender(?) and smaller than a pencil eraser. I have never went tanning and dont stay out in the sun much.

Can non-cancerous moles change in color like mine did? Or is what is happening to me something that has to do with potential skin cancer?

I have another question. I know cancer can be hereditary, but can both the parent and a child, for example, have different types of cancer, or can they only be the same type?
My grandpa had cancer, but he's ok now. My great aunt, my grandpa's sister, also had cancer, and she's ok too. They both had different types of cancer.

One last question. If I want to get my mole checked out, can a family doctor be okay or do I have to go to a dermatologist?

Lala, I am sorry about your current health concerns. I hope that it is not cancer but the only way you will know for sure is to go to a doctor and have this mole checked.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know what you find out.
