I'm 24 out with a friend talking to teo pharmecutical salesmen, when suddenly I see lights flashing voices bottoming out, and think I must have been poisoned. I run to the bartender and beg for the police. Instead, and thankfully he calls the paramedics. I don't remember the next few days. I awoke to a doctor telling me I had not long to live but to stay positive.

I turn 27 next week. Earlier last year I needed surgery, no doctor in LA would perfom the surgery, but my mom found a doctor at UCSF who was capable. He did an amazing job as I can still talk and move and what not. The tumor ran through the motor strip and the temporal lobe. Not the best place.

This has been a year filled with a whirpool of emotions. I'm praying I can put this GBM in a "remission" for 10 years... I feel like I just ot out of school ready to take on the world and the world decided to raise the difficulty level...

So I'm out of chemos now had maximum radiation, an the question always lingering...what to do if there is a quick reccurance.
My neurosurgeon tells me not to read the internet as it's filled with more depressing news than the reality of the situation.

Now I'm on Keppra Dilantin and trileptal. If I try going off of one of them I have a grand mal seizure. While I'm on them I sleep worse than a baby.
I'm just hoping there rerally is a point to this whole life thing.

GBMandstillliving, if you read my story (link is in my signature block), you will see that I am a long term survivor of a glioma. My mother died of a GBM over 9 years ago only 2 months after her diagnosis. I truly am sorry about your GBM. I wish you well. My cancer was first diagnosed in 1992 and it recurred in 2005. However, my cancer was only a grade II originally and the recurrence was a grade III so neither was as bad as yours.

My cancer was also in the motor strip. I have difficulty speaking and weakness in my right arm and hand. I take Keppra and Lamictal to keep from having seizures. I took dilantin for over 12 years. Last year I started to have memory losses so they took me off of the dilantin and started the Lamictal. I too have to make sure I take my meds because of seizures.

Sometimes, finding a point for this life is not easy. I cannot work because of my speach problems, right sided weakness, and problems with balance. I do what I can but it is not much.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
