Hi Guys,
I'll try to keep this short as possible. Basically I am going through this huge emotional rollercoaster(as most of you have gone/going through). I just graduated from college. My girlfriend who i have known for 2 years but actually started dating 2 months ago might have cancer(I dont know what type->she didnt go in detail). She started getting sick early last week and had to go to the hospital because she was exhuasted and a horrible fever. The doctor's ran some tests on her (ie: cervical exams..etc) and they found a mass that was very rare. Now they are 80% sure that it is cancer but won't positively know until the surgery, which is Monday(Today).
I am freaking out right now because I haven't talked to her since Saturday. She said she won't have access to her phone in the hospital because all of her stuff gets put in the locker. Here is my delimma. I really like this girl(possibly love) i have had many relationships in the past but none like this one and want to be there for her through this awful time in her life. I haven't officially met her parents yet(she lives at home) and so i dont want it to feel awkward. But at the same time i dont want to be kept in the dark...Is there a remedy for this? what would you guys do if my situation? Thanks in advance for all ur help, I'm so sorry if this is long! |

Sorry you have to be going through this, and especially sorry for your girlfriend.
I would send some flowers to the hospital with a note and then call her room later; you don't need to have a cell handy to be able to answer a hospital room phone.
Take it a day at a time. |

| Thanks. Thats great advice, but the worst part is while we were talking on the phone I forgot to ask her what hospital she was going to(that was one of the things she was suppose to tell me if she wouldve called yesterday but she never did). Should I just go up to her house and ask her parents? at the same time I want to give her family a little space as I'm sure if i'm going through this, they must be just feeling wrecked! but at the same I want to be able to see her and show her that I'm there for her. She means a lot to me and it's driving me crazy just sitting here not doing anything... |

Hi there
Sorry to hear the news on your girlfriend! You must be reeling at the moment with all this happening!
Yep for sure I would go doorknock her house & introduce yourself, perhaps not as a boyfriend but good friend, & offer your support. I'm sure the parents will be grateful knowing you are offering your support & are concerned about their daughter.
Thinking of you & your girlfriend. Please let us know how she is going & you too?
Cheers, Aussie Angie. _________________ Brother has GBMIV

Hi, I'm so sorry for your girlfriends health. AND your worry. We often forget the partners, friends and fmaily.
I would call her home, Say you are a friend and that she has told you a little aboutwhat is happening, and you'd like to see her...is that ok? Could you know where she is?? or can you send her something??? etc.
Her parents will think this is nice of a friend to be worried about her. This way, it wont be awkward, and it gives her the chance to tell them about your relationship.
You sound like a truely caring person and even if this is not "the one" then, you obviously still want to be there for her.
Good Luck and let us know how things are. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

I can't begin to tell you guys how appreciative I am of your support. As the story progresses...I took off from work early yesterday to go to her house and lo and behold, she was there! she just got done with the biopsy and got back home an hour before me. I don't think I have never been so happy to see her as much as I did yesterday!
She is not in pain right now and just to hold her in my arms for a few minutes was enough for me to relieve some of this pressure of my shoulders...eventhough she's not out of the woods yet, I am re assured her that i will stick by her no matter what happens. I would really appreciate it if you guys can remember her in your prayers as she is only 20yrs old and a very hard working girl. Once again I am thankful for you guys as support network!
Since I have never been in this situation before, what kind of things can I do to ease her pain (Except for just being there). I just can't express to her enough how much i care about her.. |

I'm so glad you got to see her, and of course so she has your suport and you were there. Plus I'm glad she isn't in any pain....
So question time, What Cancer? type stage etc? What treatment did she have to have and what steps are next.???
If you can get any information, then we might be abe to help more. _________________ Thinking of you Inica
