Steve from Michigan here.

Father (70 YO) recently diagnosed with IIIB NSCLC.

Started Taxol/Carb on the 11th. Returned on 12th for Neulasta. Since that time, his world has been shaken to it's foundations with the bone pain about which I read so much.

Called doc, initial recommendation was acetaminophen. I can only assume he was a comedian in a previous life.

Called doc again, phoned in prescription for Vicodin 500 . Did not help the pain much, but mercifully allowed him to finally sleep.

TWO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:

1. Can anyone offer insight as to other meds, perscription or not, that can reduce the pain to more manageable levels?

The desire is to get it down, NOW, so that we know precisely what to do when Round 2 arrives in a few weeks.

2. I have read that waiting TWO DAYS before the Neulasta shot helps reduce pain considerably. This would makes sense as the active half life of Taxol is more than 30 hrs. If you have the Taxol knocking off whites and reds, while the Neulasta is concurrently stimulating the growth of whites and reds, the body is naturally going to protest.

Any feedback or personal experiences to share along these lines?

Thank you all for your time and consideration in these matters.

Hi I have bone cancer I had nuelasta ect but I take NORCO 325/10 they work well on the pain however they are addictive and you have a tendency to take more than perscribed because they make u feel THAT good.. its hard to make them last and they are hard to buy because you get a months worth and they never last. Like now Im worried mine has to last until the end of March and Im supposed to take 12 a day and I cant make them last nomatter what I do. I just eat them all day for relief.
