Hi All
This question has come up before and I was interested in seeing if there was something to this question : Does stress have a part to play in the development of lymphoma?
For the record I am very skeptical about this. _________________ Age 52

Not scientific enough myself to say that stress had anything to do with my HL but it was definately an influence in my day to day life, 12 mos. prior to being diagnosed.
-Lost a very good paying job in 2007 due to construction industry demise
-daily grind of making finances work since job loss, although i was able to land another job 3 months later at half the pay rate.
- 2 daughters on college and figuring out finances on that aspect
- 1 daughter misbehavin and givin us (me and the better half) fits.
- The list could go on and on...BUT, keep in mind while this poll is being taken, that I am normally one whom thrives on challenges and turns stress into a challenge. Must be my way of dealing with the day to struggles everyone endures and deals with. |

This is a good poll, if I undersdtood it and its purpose correctly, but it should be rephrased. For instance, I had a lot of physical stress for 2-3 months before I was finally diagnosed with Lymphoma.
So IMHO the poll should read : "Did you have any stress before you started feeling the symptoms of Lymphoma?"
I'm responding to your original poll as if it was asked in the revised form. _________________ 61 y.o M, Diffuse large B cell NHL, stage 3. Lower back. Diagnosed Mid May 09. Completed 6 R-CHOP treatments on 9/8/09. In Remission: 10/19/09 |

Also, we need a "control" group. So far 88% of the respondents had some degree of stress during the year prior to the onset of the Lymphoma. However, had they had any stress 5 years before? What about people who hadn't had Lymphoma at all?
How many were stress-free last year in this population?
Anyway, this is a good start. _________________ 61 y.o M, Diffuse large B cell NHL, stage 3. Lower back. Diagnosed Mid May 09. Completed 6 R-CHOP treatments on 9/8/09. In Remission: 10/19/09 |
