I found out only 3 weeks ago that my mum has breast cancer and she will be having her whole breast removed next week on the 17th Oct. I feel exactly the same as you do because I've been unable to stop crying. I feel I need to be stronger for my mum but I'm finding it extremly difficult, and I keep worrying that I'm going to lose her because she's my best friend and she's only 49. She is being quite positive about it, only because she feels that if she isn't then she will be letting it get her and she doesn't want that to happen. But I really think I need to talk to some people who have/are going through the same thing. She is looking into having reconstructive surgery, and her humorous side has come out because she says it's an excuse for her to finally get a boob job Smile. So if you or anyone else could post a comment for me and this may just be a way of helping me get through this pain for my mum. Thankyou.

Hi,

I had just turned 43 when I was dx with Stage III Breast Cancer. I had both breasts removed, went through chemo and radiation. That was over 5 1/2 years ago and I'm still doing great. No signs of the cancer coming back.

Your mom knows your worried, you're her daughter. Go to the doctor appointments with her and that way you'll learn more about what is going on and when they get the pathology report, the surgeon will explain the details of her dx. She always needs to have someone with her for her appts. because it's all very overwhelming when someone tells you, you have cancer and she'll miss some of what is being said.
