Hi guys,
I'm joining this forum in the memory of my mother-in-law Elizabeth Gleizer.. who was the most wonderful person... nothing can help her now, but the memory of her lives in the hearts of those she left behind...
I've been looking for a way to get involved in the longest time, and this is it, this is my way of expressing the hurt and pain, remembering the amazing person that she was by putting my time and effort into creating an event…the idea of ‘WE THE LIVING’ was born from channeling grief through creativity, and directing it towards awareness and support…
WE THE LIVING is a unique event, the purpose of which is to raise awareness by targeting and involving diverse members of our community, and raising funding for a continuous effort to fight cancer and offer support for those affected. This event will unite the audience with a common factor, mending age and ethnicity differences.
WE THE LIVING will offer entertainment that reflects all channels of life, and leave an awareness message within the hearts of the audience members. WE THE LIVING will celebrate life, and those who are with us, as well as remembering many of those who have passed. Ultimately, this event is a Fashion Show that will be displaying modern fashion wear for men and women of all ages. The presentation of this event will be a combination of catwalk runway, theatrical movement and dance, and scenes with storylines that evoke touching, humorous and thought-provoking messages.
Our mandate is to create a multi-talent crew of designers, dancers and models and present a celebration of life for us, the living, while bringing all audience members together to remember those loved ones whom we have lost to cancer. Our intent is to present motivational speakers who can share their own battle story, or one of a close one, while encouraging and inspiring the audience members.
Due to the nature of the event, it would best be managed on no funding, but rather volunteer work and donations alone. With the success of WE THE LIVING, the message conveyed will be loud and clear: Unite in the celebration of life to fight cancer. The event will draw support based on a common factor, and on the willingness of people to support the cause and beat cancer.
We have already received a support letter from the Canadian Cancer Society, acknowledging and praisint our event proposal. We are working on putting together a committee that will help us organize the event.
This is your chance to get involved.. If you’ve experienced the hurt and pain of loosing a family member, a friend or a close person, and have been looking for a way to remember him/her by getting involved to raise funds for awareness, please feel free to pledge your support in your strongest channel, regardless of how much time you can dedicate...we are looking for all skills and all talents.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. |
