Pancreatic cancer killed a friend of mine last December. One of the symptoms was back pain up neat where the stomach is. At this point it was to late to do much. He had a patch for the pain, I presume morphine.

I have a long history of lower back problems after a fall years ago, and occaisionally feel some pain after lifting something heavy or turning or twisting the wrong way.

What is the difference between cancer pain and muscular pain? Is cancer pain usually constant? Because my friend was using a morpine patch, this leads me to believe his pain must have been constant.

He had stage IV when it was found. Would other stages have had a different type of pain or is the pain only felt at stage IV?

I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. I know someone who had brain cancer and also had back pains on his spinal. He's in remission but current and prior he said that he would get back pains if he slept on his back. I would say maybe it could be constant and currently he says that he just sleeps on his side to avoid the back pains. Both cancer and muscular pain might be similar and for me I had brain cancer and also have hip muscular pains due to osteo nucrosis from the decadron med that I took to shrink the tumor. Both are pretty painful either way. I also took morphine patches and stopped them just a month ago. I can't feel the difference when I put it on or off but its really strong for a small patch, only an inch long.
