Hi there, my mum was diagnosed with a 10cm HCC in Nov 2007. She has a history of hep C and cirrhosis as a result of this. No treatment is being offered even though it is a single mass (albeit large), and there is no evidence of metastases. Her liver function is poor; she is in Child Pugh group C (the lowest). Chemoembolisation was going to be offered, but was considered too high risk because of her poor liver function. We enquired about Hifu but they responded the same way, saying that the liver function was poor. Essentially, my mum isn't that unwell, and it's frustrating that even though there aren't any mets, she can't have a transplant or resection due to it being a large tumour (and therefore not fulfilling the Milan criteria for resection).
Can ANYBODY suggest anything to help my mum, I'm so tempted to whip it out myself, lol!

My mom has HCC, HEP C and Cirrhosis. She just had her second chemoemobilization procedure done last week to shrink a second tumor that was found.

I wish that there was something that I could tell you that would help but I am new to this and trying to get as much information as I can..

i know that my dad's tumor was also too large to be put onto a transplant list, it was probably the mot frustrating thing for me. We decided to take a risk and my mom took my dad to China to find a liver for transplant. I know that this is so drastic but it is the only thing i know to say since i dont have any experience on this topic. Im sorry to hear about your mom, and i truly hope all goes well
