Well, we are a little rare. My 44 yr old wife was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has a tumor that is about 1 inch by 1 inch. It has possibly invaded the stomach as best as I can tell from the report. They say it is also around some blood vessels. All that I can see is bad news. We are starting chemo and radioation next week. They told her an average of one year life expectancy. We are devastated. We have girls 19, 21, 23 and boys 8, 14 and 16. The boys do not know the time frame. Does anyone have any shred of good news. I know it is rare for a young woman to have this disease and we are afraid that the rest of the odds are against us. However we are handing it over to God for him to do as he sees fit. I would really appreciate any input you might have. Thank you so much, Mark L. Bond

First I like say that I'm sorry to hear about your wife, I understand what your about to embark in.. My wife of 42 was diagnosed last July with pancreatic cancer as well. My first advise to you is to seek out a hospital that has a cyber knife facility.. This cyber knife has been used for inoperable tumors especially brain tumors and now has been approved for pancreatic tumors.. But it must be used prior to any other chemo or radiation treatment.
I wish I had hear of this before, when we talked to the surgeon he wanted to treat this in a aggressive manor because my wife was young healthy and strong prior to any surgery I personally think he was afraid due to the history of pancreatic cancer it might have lowered his success record.. three months later my wife lost some 40 pounds and she was still waiting to get the surgery but once all the numbers from the blood test came some what normal it was too late the cancer had spread to her diaphragm, she continued to loose weight and muscle mass..
The only way to treat this cancer is to remove it as soon as possible before it spreads, and above all to keep her happy and healthy with vitamins specially “C”

Keep in touch and good luck

Andre, Thanks for the response. I certainly will take that info and run with it. God bless you for replying. Is your wife still alive? Was it July 06 or July 05 that she was diagnosed? We are just full of questions about what the future holds. I am taking my wife tomorrow. We are going to sign her up for disability since she cant work and I work for myself so my schedule is getting a complete overhaul so I can spend most of my time caring for her. Again, thank you for the response and please keep me informed about your situation.

Thanks, Mark

Mark..

My wife was diagnosed last July 05, she pasted away this past July 06 almost to the day.. but if you act quick with your wife this may turn into a different story.. one more thing and I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate mail for this but don't get caught up with a oncologist stay with the surgeon, in my opinion oncologist are nothing but bartenders with a license to mix up cocktails they do not treat the person but treat the mixture, chemo is not a all mighty cure but a suppressant to give you time
Don’t mean to sound negative I’m sure some people do benefit from certain kinds of chemos for certain cancers if used early enough, but the more you know the better prepared you are

Hello Andre -- I just read your post on the forum re: cyber-knife and am so sorry for your loss. I really hate to bother you with this, but would love to know your feedback on the cyber-knife procedure. My husband is a pancreatic cancer patient diagnosed this past October. It's inoperable. He has undergone traditional radiation and some chemo - last scan showed the mass was not as dense, but still not operable. We have met with the cyber-knife doctors and they see it as a viable alternative to the whipple although his doctors at the other hospital where he has undergone treatments to date aren't necessarily fans of the CK. Whatever input you have would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to bother you, but it seemed like you had some great insight and hope for us. Thanks so much. Carol Jean

First I am no expert on this matter except through my on experience with my wife, you say that you spoke with the CK people and they say its an alternative to the whipple even after going traditional radiation treatment
I thought for some reason that you could not use the CK after radiation but if you spoke to them and they say its still an alternative then be all means take that chance before he gets too week and keep him strong with proteins and vitamins, I keep saying this because I believe it helps...my wife did what the oncologist said to do and no more and she got weaker by the day it was too late for any alternatives, there is a point that chemo becomes toxic and starts showing false positives..

my prayers go out to you and everybody here
Exclamation
