My nan has terminal NSCLC and has already outlived her prognosis of 6months. My 13year old cousin has tonight been asking me questions, everyone is treating her like a baby over this, and so now I'm the only one she will talk to. She is so so scared about what's going to happen.....does anyone have a suggestion for a site I can show her to explain everything...one without too much graphic detail???

Smurf,

Helping others deal with this is probably one of the hardest things. If your cousin is feeling like everyone is keeping informaiton from her she is probably ready to hear some of the reality. I also think would be important fr her to understand that there are so many different ways that this can play out. Everyone involved is probably wanting straight difinitive answers but with cancer is seems as though there aren't any. The Hospice website had soem very good information about talking to children at different ages and I have found that as a good guidline as to how to approch questions from my own children in regards to my mother's cancer. I hope this helps. I feel that everyone deserves to have their questions answered as gently as possible. This is a journey that each individual does in their own way. You and your family are in my prayers.
