86 yo grandmother just diagnosed

My 86 yo grandmother was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last week. Her oncologist states she has about 3-6 months. The tumor was undefined(whatever that means) but contained at the head of her pancreas near her liver. They went in and put a stent in. She was so yellow. Even the whites of her eyes were yellow, and her back was flourescent before diagnosis. Her urine was orange. this is what promptes her to go to the ER and they diagnosed her.

We are meeting with a radiation doctor today. She insists that if she can receive radiation to extend her life, she will do it.

Being that she is so jaundiced, does this mean the end may be near for her anyways?? She is also very short of breath.

I do not understand why there is nothing they can do??

And is Pancreatic Cancer herditary? Do I need to be concerend for my future and make sure that I am tested or watched for this? I am currently 39 years old.
