Just as 23-year-old Davor Stankovic was treated for lymph nodes cancer in his home city of Banja Luka (Republic of Srpska) last September, he was diagnosed with three additional cancers, dangerously close to his heart. In order to continue the battle for his life, Davor needs 10,000 Bosnian convertible marks (approx. US$ 6,200) for surgery at the Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica, Serbia and Montenegro.
Davor is pleading for financial help since he does not have this money. Davor’s only family, a mother and a younger brother, have no income whatsoever. He lives in poor (war-torn) country where people barely have money for food.
"When I was told about the degree of my illness by the doctors, my whole world came tumbling down", says Davor for the Glas Srpske magazine interview. "Everything happened just out of the blue. I have never been sick in my whole life. I was a healthy outgoing person, who enjoyed playing basketball and living. I’ve just started living, yet now I have to battle this deadly disease and fight for my life."
Despite the disease, Davor is not losing hope in life.
Davor's immune system has weakened siginificantly, and each day he goes without being treated, further deteriorates his condition. Because the cancerous cells are being carried by his blood, the cancer keeps spreading further throughout his body. Please help prevent this from happening, and make a donation today.
