My husband had surgery in May for a GBM on the left side of his brain. It was approx golf ball size. He was treated with radiation and temodar. He completed the radiation and had a followup MRI Thursday which shows a reoccurrance of the tumor. He has no symptoms and was sure he was doing fine. They say it is approx. 4 cm. We live in WV and they are not giving him any good options. Advice has been to go to Duke University in N.C. Has anyone had this happen - come back so fast? He is doing fine, no problems healthwise or problems from the surgery he is perfectly normal. The only problems are swelling in his face and neck from the steroids they keep him on. Anyone going thru this? I need someone to talk to. Are there any helplines or chats for this? Any advice appreciated so much. So scared of losing him. He's only 42. |

| Hi man, I'm italian. My father (67 years) has been diagnosticated a GBM inoperable on the left side of brain. (21 january 2005). He tried with chemio and radio (complete therapy). Well, glioblastoma is very fast as tumor, but I have found a new therapy by the Eortc in Bruxelles (www.eortc.be). My father is doing it in Padova (Italy), this protocol has been definitive only 3 or 4 months ago, I suppose that there are 1 clinic in Houston and 1 in Toronto for this therapy. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the name of this clinic, but you can find it at www.cancer.gov What I can tell you is that inside this new therapy there are some different type of protocols, so try to have a contact with this hospital, I suppose that they can help you, as the staff of Padova helped me and my family. Good luck. |

I am curious to know how your husband is doing. I have a relative who had the radiation and temodar, and a small tumor is there after the initial treatment, but I think was there after the surgery and a few inches away from the main area that the treatments were focused on.
They will be doing the Gamma Knife radiation or Cyber radiation and continue with the Temodar.
I am wondering if they offered you any gamma knife treatments ?
Any updates would be great, as my relative had a tumor on the left side and similiar golf ball like size. |

Hello,
My dad will have the cyber knife radiation and will have 5 treatments versus 1 stronger treatment, so the 5 treatments are of smaller amts.
I assume that will happen in the next week or two, and of course continue with the temador.
let me know how you husband is doing and what he needs to have done.
thanks for the updates |
