Hi, great site, nice to knoe theres advice out there if you look. My question is i have trouble urinating,i have to sort of really push and this has been the case for a while now. Lately tho ive had burning sensation whenever i urinate. Im worried sick now that i might have prostate cancer. Im 32 years of age (live in the uk) What should i do? Im going to make an appointment on monday for the doctors and see what he thinks. Maybe im being stupid being so scared but the more i read about it the more worried im getting. Will my doctor be able to do a test when i see him or will i have to wait to have it done. Also what type of test am i likely to have.
Any help would be much appreciated

Mark

Mark,

Your doctor will be able to advise you when you see him, as some of the tests do not involve a long waiting time.

Obviously you should not delay seeking help should your problem become acute in the meantime.

Mark, a simple test can tell you if it is cancer or something else. It is called a PSA test (Protate Specific Antigene). Go and have your PSA measured. Burning sensation when urinating could also be signs of a Urinary Track infection treatable with antibiotics. So, relax, but see a doctor as soon as you can.

Good luck.

I am a urologist.

urethral stricture and uti need to be ruled out.
A culture and Cystoscopy may be needed. Your doctor can advise you.

At your age, I think anti oxidants are a reasonable approach to prevention of prostate cancer. This is an approach I have had success with for prevention and cure on my own patients.

First, visit your urologist.
If he rules out any issues, I can help you with some ideas regarding prevention and antioxidant therapy.
