hi, i am mick i am a 44 year old male with fair skin, freckles red hair, etc and have had numerous bcc removals from all parts of my body inlcuding the small of my back and the rear of my sock line above my ankles and on my stomach. these areas would rarely have been exposed to excessive uv. however i am now more frequently developing what seem to be superficial bcc lesions on my face and in particular on my forhead. surgical removal of these small lesions would seem to me to be too invasive in that there are a large number appearing across my forhead. i am therefor searching for creams that are effective and (available) for their treatment. i assume from all accounts that my condition will now rapidly deteriorate given my age. i have been afflicted with these blighters from the age of about 25. the severity of inflamation varies with my state of health and in particular some red wines (i assume histamines are culprits) flare the condition dramatically. if anyone can use any of my information, great. if anyone can help me with my upcoming treatment program, great also

Mick,

I just had my second session of PDT (Photo Dynamic Therapy) at the Universaity of Penn for a BCC right above my lip. I have also undergone Moh's in the past and I did not want to go through that again - especially since it is on my lip and I am only 30.

Anyway, you should look into it. The procedure consisted of putting a medicine on the lesion, waiting 3-4 hours and then sitting under a laser for 30 mins. It does involve some blistering, scabbing etc...but that healed in 7 days. I had two sessions like this two weeks apart. It is a relatively new prodedure - I had to find out about myself as no dermatologist would talk about it with me...but it's def. worth trying. I was talking to the oncologist and she told me they have treated up to 8 lesions at a time...so if you have multiple BCC"s, it may be for you.

Good Luck!

Smile Kristine

Noticed you are from Aussie, I am A Kiwi living in the states, same age as you... You could be the carbon copy of myself.. Tons of Bccs removed and have endured more than 5 MOHs surgeries to my face, this last one was on my nose and they had to use a labial flap, not pretty, but it is amazing how they do it.. and I still have a nose...Saw you were looking for other ways to treat your face..I did too, and now I am paying for it. Scarring from previous procedures can obscure a reaccuring lesion, that is what happen in my case, and now mohs is the only way to insure it is taken care of. Hope Christine has luck with PDT if she does and it is gone, I will try that, but for me as hard as it is I trust good old MOHS anyday.. Good luck to you ...kiwigal
