Good evening,

My father was diagnosed a little over a month ago (AUG 26). He has opted out of chemo/radiation. He has really gone downhill fast. The oncologist told us 3-6 months. He is on the transdermal patch (2X75 mg) and 1/2 cc of morphine sulfate every 2-3 hours. The pain never seems to go away. His stomach has swollen, and is a terrible source of pain. He can not eat very much at all. While my Mom and I have done a lot to work on the pain, I have NEVER felt so powerless. My kids (ages 6 1/2, 5, 3, and 1) are asking about him, but he doesn't want them to see him "this way". I feel lost. My wife has been a great source of support and help, but I have never lost a close relative like this before.

I am determined to make him as pain-free as possible. The hospice nurse is not very dependable. I have gone over her head to the Dr, and am ready to do more, if necessary. I am dooing all I can, but I don't feel like it is enough. Any advice? I sure could use it.........

Richard

Have you tried any alternative medicine treatments? It sometimes happens that the conventional medicine alone is unable to help a patient, but if one uses methods of both conventional and alternative medicine, it may often yield good results. A good idea could be to find some medical doctor who utilizes both traditional and alternative methods. I recommend that you read the information at www.[NO MARKETING HERE].org, they describe various approaches of this kind to advanced cancer therapies. They are able to provide longer and better quality life even to patients with advanced cancer. You can get the impression of what they actually do from several patients testimonials provided there.
