Hello everyone.
First of all i want to apologize for my english.
I have a question. My sister-in-low have a very large cancer tumor of brest and lymph knots. she made operation two years ago but--- the things become worst. Now we hear that there is a chance with blood transfusion.
Do you hear something about that kind of treatment?
Please tell me Something. |

Dear Newman,
I am so sorry that your sister in law is not doing well.
But we need some more information.
You say that she had breast cancer 2 years ago, and had a tumor in her breast and cancer was also in her lymph nodes? She had surgery, and had some nodes removed? OK. Did she have a lumpectomy, where they take out the lump, or a mastectomy, where they take out the breast? Did she have chemo therapy, radiation? Do you know what type of breast cancer it was? And how many nodes had cancer?
And now, it sounds like the breast cancer has come back. Where did it come back to - the breast, or bones, lungs, or what? And has she had tests? What does the doctor say it is?
Is it that the cancer has come back, or does she have a different type of cancer?
Also, are they planning a blood transfusion to cure the cancer? They will give her different fresh blood (through her veins) to replace the old blood? Or are they going to do something with her bone marrow? or is the transfusion to make her blood better, give her more energy?
Sorry to ask so many questions. I think we can help you a bit if we have more information. And are you in the US?

Thank you for your answer,
I' m from Bulgaria. My sister-in-low is 33 years old. Actualy the doctors took out the lump from under o.'s arm. her breast is still untouched.
She didn't make any chemo or radiation because this kind of treatment has many other causes. o.k. the people don't die from cancer but from let's say lung disfunction which are from chemotherapy.
So the cancer came back at same place, and now has many nodes. One of it ( the biggest one, And the fist one ) is very large-- like jam-jar. She can't move her left hand. The lump is pressing some nerves and she has terrible pain. She has same type of cancer.
the doctors said the therapy ( but only because they have no other choise)
They cann't tell her " no chance " .
About the blood transfusion, we just think about it. the doctor didn't tell something. Here the doctors are very conservative. They prefered not to try something else except the standart cure.
Now there is too late for operation ( doctors said it ), actualy we try other methods on our own responsability. But it is beter to believe in something then to say "good bye". We still hope. You can see her at www.onco.hit.bg |

Hi,
Things are done very different in the U.S. I had a mastectomy, the entire breast removed because I had a large tumor. They also remove my lymph nodes and 9 out of 16 of them were positive for breast cancer as well. I had chemo and radiation and am doing well. There are side affects to chemo, but I've heard of very few that had alot of trouble. You stay tired, but really, that's the main side affect.
There in an oncologist, Leo, that checks this forum when he's not on duty and has some time, and he will be alot of help to you.
I'm not sure what to say since treatment there and here are completely different. Chemo may have side affects, BUT it's temporary and it's meant to KILL cancer cells that are left behind. Without chemo, the cancer continues to grow. I wouldn't say that if the dx had been a Stage I, even though most are taking chemo with the lower stages too, but if you were in the US, there would be surgery to remove the cancerous breast, all lymph nodes removed and chemo and radiation done. Has it spread to the liver, lungs, bones or anywhere? What kind of test have they done?
