|
|
(forgive any bad spelling please) its the sunday after after my 3rd cycle, im in a hotel lobby on my laptop as far away from human kind as posible.
ill make it short and sweet...
on my 1st cycle i was in hospital for 5 days, the doctors chose CHOP R, i had a bad reaction to the R, it was fixed with hydrocortizone and continued, the whole thing took almost 11 hours (with a 20 min break for a fag,or four, after the R). wired-to-the-moon for the steroid faze, like taking a couple of good E's and been told to to relax.
the 2nd cycle i did as an out-patient and had to spend the next week living at my 75 year out mothers house (due to circumstances behond my control). i savagely attacked 4 members of my family, verbally, and they will never speak to me again, my mother was not one i thank god. im ok with the others. i lost the plot on the saturday, sunday and monday, steroids ran out then.
now im on the sunday after my 3rd all buzzed-up in a hotel lobby hoping to allah i dont stab anyone to death just for asking the time.
anyone want to give me some advise here?, (please protect me from myself buddah)
p.s. trying to cover all bases with the religions |

Hi alleycat
Sorry to hear the cortisone is messing with you so much. You can request to taper off the cortisone , this could help with your pyschological state. Talk to the doctor next time you see them or mention your problems at the next chemo session. You might also avoid seeing people for a few days after you stop the cortisone, that could avoid unpleasent situations in the future.
Grab a few handouts from the clinic/hospital for relatives of lymphoma patients, the effects of the prednisone/ prednisolone crash are always dealt with in these pamphlets, as they are very common. It should give some understanding of what you are going through to your friends and family.
Good luck try and take it easy, before you know it this will be a distant memory.

Yeah, I hear you about the affects of the Prednisone and ones disposition.
I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in the State of Virginia and even carrying openly is not frowned upon. On the Prednisone days, the old "Smith and Wesson" stays home, locked up. I don't want to turn a little road rage incident into a tragedy. _________________ Don B

I did get a little crazy during treatment. One time I ended up sprinting, tripping over a rope, and landed badly, spraining both arms to the point where my wife had to do everything for me for nearly a week. But better that I hurt myself than others...
At least it helped stand as a reminder to me that I was not "normal", and that I needed to be extra careful with myself. It sucks that nobody who hasn't gone through it can really understand, but it's our responsibility to recognize what we have and hold ourselves back.
I hope you will finish this treatment without additional incident, and that you never have to go through something like this again. _________________ Age 37 (36 at diagnosis)
