After 7 weeks in the hospital my Mom was able to come home a couple days ago. The tumor in her stomach has caused her to have Gastroparasis. Her stomach isn't working at all. They placed a G-tube for draining the stomach and she has a J-Tube for feeding. The J-tube goes directly into her small intestine so it bypasses the stomach. I am having to crush her meds and give them through the G-Tube. Has anyone had expierence with this before ?

I desperatly need some advice on this ! She seems to be bloated alot and of course she is almost constantly nauseated. She is taking Reglan, Phenegran and Zofran for nausea but none of them seem to help much. The doctors say those are about all there are to give. She was also taking Adavan in the hospital but not here at home. She is not constipated because she has had a BM and it was a bit loose so we are pretty sure that's not what is causing the bloating. I think it is just because her digestion is very slow. She takes nothing by mouth, just through the J-tube. I have seen in a few places where people talk about venting the G-tube. Can this also be done with a J-tube ? Does anyone know exactly how it is done ? The doctors are little help here. They just say there is not much we can do and as long as she isn't constipated that's all that matters. But the bloating is awful and she doesn't want the feeding hooked up as long as she is bloated like this.

Any tips or help on this will be appreciated !!

Hi Jbraz56. I am sorry that no one has replied to your question. I have watched because 1. I know it is important to you but 2. I don't have an answer for you. The only advice I have is to call her medical team. Sorry about her problems.
