I suppose it is possible to give a person so much radiation that the thyroid will totally die put other tissue around the thyroid would be seriously damaged too... possibly putting the person's life in jeopardy. Thyroid surgery is not that dangerous of a surgery an most people recover quiet well.

Why do you ask?

Well i have a friend that told me in march that she had thyroid cancer. And some of the things that she tells me doesn't really make sense and i'm starting to believe that she has a problem with lieing. she said that her thyroid was removed with the use of new like probe technology through her naval so as not to leave scars. she has also told us that she has pancreotic cancer as well but i have not seen her go to a doctors appointment or to any treatment ever. and she continues to drink and act healthy as hell.

I've been reading that after a thyroidectomy they can use radioactive iodine to kill any remaining thyroid cells, which is a way to kill the thyroid without surgery - but I understand that they only do that after they have removed the gland to make sure that they kill any remaining thyroid tissue. While they can do a lot through the naval, I seriously doubt that they are managing throat surgeries from there. Ask her about her radioactive iodine treatment - if you ask the right question you might be able to catch her out. Most of the time you have to either remain isolated in a hospital or stay away from people - if you ask her where she had her iodine treatment, you might be able to catch her out.
