Hey, I'm new to this forum, and I signed up because I figured that there'd be more oncologist, patients, or survivors here that would give me the best info.

Here's the deal - for the past week or so, I've noticed some soft, moveable, flesh colored lesions on the lining of my cheeks on both sides of my mouth (they both seem to be adjascent to one another, each being directly below one of my upper molars on either side). They aren't sore or painful, but they can get irritated from time to time. I've also noticed a long grayish ulceration on both sides of my mouth where my upper and lower teeth would come together. There's no white or red patches anywhere, but I have noticed some red dots on my tongue. Logic tells me that they're just irritated taste buds, but I'm not positive. Oh, and I have been eating some fairly salty foods lately...though that kind of stuff has never irritated my mouth before.

I don't know if I bite my cheeks at night or not, and I don't have mouth guards to find out. I may though, because I also noticed ulcerations on the inside of my lip that seem to be diminishing. And please don't tell me to go to the dentist. I'm already getting a route canal on the 31st, and if these lumps persist then I'll go in on emergency.

By the way, I'm an 18 year old male with no history of smoking or drug use, and no one in my family has had oral cancer that I'm aware of. I've been quite a hypochondriac lately though, and I get really scared about this kind of thing.

In this country, dentists are trained to check for mouth cancers, so I would suggest you start by seeing a good dentist.

There could be so many things that cause this, and it would be better to be examined by a specialist than to seek answers at a distance. Hypochondria is a very dangerous disorder, causing much pain and agony. So get things checked out quickly and soon.

Hi again,

I get mouth sores or tender areas in my mouth that certain foods aggravate to the point of enhancing them. (It can be something as innocuous as crusty french bread.) STRESS often goes hand in hand with outbreaks of mouth sores or tender areas, so I have a hunch that may be what is happening to you (me too!)

There are also those little lumps that appear in the mouth when the salivary glands block - nothing to worry about. They usually go of their own account.
