my mother who is a non-smoker was diagnosed with lung cancer 4 years ago. The growth was found during a pre-operative x-ray for knee surgery. The tumor was very small and she had her upper left lobe removed at Slaon Kettering Cancer hospital in ny. It was non-small cell and NOT in the lymp nodes. Her doctor felt very confident that she was safe and did not suggest chemo or radiation-----for 4 years she had ct scans for her chest the last being 4 months ago. 1 month ago she had a seizure that almost cost her her life and through scans found out she had 2 brain tumors that were once again removed at sloan. For 4 years she lived a heathy full life without medication ..now she is face with radiation and chemo. Does anyone know or understand blood markers? They never scanned her brain even though lung travesl to brain. The doctors say her lungs are clear but it has metastazied. Has anyone here had a similare experience and what treamtent were you offered. thanks
