My dad has also had problems lately with a yeast infection in his throat. He can hardly talk. The doc gave him some pills/diflucan to take for 5 days. They did nothing. She gave him another 5 days worth. Has anyone else had experience with yeast/thrush and or voice problems. I am wondering if this will or even can go away. Perhaps it is the cancer, not the yeast? I wish I had the answers, any experience would be helpful. Thankx.

Hi,
Yeast/thrush infections are notoriously diffiult to treat. I got it during my find chemo 13 years ago and still have occurences of it periodically. I never had it before chemo. But it was one of the little thing I learned to live with in order to have 13 wonderful years of life.

There are many things that could be causing this and if it doesn't resolve with fluconazole, further workup would be recommended. Yes it could be the cancer or the fungus or something else. Difficult to determine limited information, but continue working with your medical team.

My wife got it after radiation and the doctor gave her something that got rid of it in about a week. Look on the internet it has lots of help. Avoid sugar and other things, different kind of toothpaste...It was nasty but also easy to control with proper measures.
