would like to us for your opinion about this:

My mum was diagnosed two years ago with breast cancer, she had undergone an neo adjuvant theraphy, 3 years after we found out a recurrence in a form of soft tissue in her chest wall and less than 1cm lesion of her lung thought not ruled to be metastases. Afterwhich she had a two cycle of taxotere with herceptin and another 2 cycle of gemzar and carboplatin, but unfortunately evaluation shows no improvement, so the oncologist decided to give her radiation plus xeloda, it deed help a little because recent CT scan shows interval decrease of the soft tissue and the lesion on the lung, shows no changes, but it was also found out in the CT Scan that there is a “INTERVAL DELOPMENT OF HYPODENSE NODULAR HEPATIC MASSES”, the oncologist seems confuse also, he right away recomment another chemotheraphy using IFOSFAMIDE, and NAVELBINE.

Is it safe or we are just in line with the protocol.

Please help us, share any opinion or what you expert have to say about this.

Thank you very much. Sad

It sounds as if your mother has breast cancer that has metastasized to the liver. FYI, this specific forum is for primary liver cancers. Don't worry, this is a common error made by people. Even though the breast cancer has spread to the liver, it is still treated as a breast cancer. Now in terms of the specific chemotherapy regimen, it is difficult to say with limited information what is best. However, something to consider is a 2nd opinion from another oncologist. If you are seeing a community oncologist, consider driving to a university cancer center to determine if they would agree with the plan. Your current oncologist should understand as this often happens.
