I was originally diagnised with a stage III colorectal cancer on Aplril 28 2004... I was 28 years old. I had the tumor removed and about 8 inches of my colon removed then re-attached. I recovered quick utilizing a trainer to help build back my core muscles and stamina. I went throught he FOLFOX chemo regiment in addition to 49 days of radiation. I have worked very hard over the past year and a half to eat right, exercise and maintain a relatively healthy life style. I will admit that I drink socially andwork hard.

Just before Christmas, on a routine check up I found out that the cancer had come back in two lymph nodes. To say the least this reoccurence has puzzled my whole team of physicians (Oncologist, Radiologist, Gastroenerologist, and Urologist) mainly becaise of my age, time frame and no family history of colon cancer.

My long winded question is this: Is there anyone out there with similiar circumstances and if so what was the course of action (chemo, Radiation. My "team" seems to think that because of my age and overall condition I can really withstand a good hardcore run with chemo. I have also consulted an alternative MD and am utilizing the his dietary game plan in addition to supplements and viatamins.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I am much older than you, 66, but I am 2 months in to recovering from the second colon cancer surgery in just over 1 year. I have no previous history of colon cancer in my family, and, I live a pretty active and healthy life.

The first cancer showed up just three months after my regular colonoscopy. The second show up just a little over a year of the first diagnoses.

After the first surgery I started following the advise of an M.D. Naturalpath. I was taking herbs, vitamines, a health diet of organic and natural foods and daily exercises. To everyone's surprise the cancer returned. I am not discouraged!

As soon as the healing from the surgery is complete, as determined by my surgeon, I will return to following recommendations of the Naturalpath. I trust in the "healthy living approach" in conjunction with my regular physicians, to addressing cancer and other illnesses.

I have a friend who no longer has prostate cancer after following a health program similar to the one you described. But, you should know, it was 4 years of following this program before the cancer disappeared. Also, his Dr. is an M.D. who also uses alternative approaches to address all illnesses. He will also take patients off the alternative approaches if he determines they are not working for that individual.

I think, depending of the type of cancer in your body, 4 years may be to long to wait for the cancer to disappear.
