I have had Cll for about 4 years. Because of variou problems I am going to start Chemo next week.
I was told because of my age (70) a bone marrow transplant is not a good idea. The odds of it working are slime and it may kill me.
Has anyone hear this? Hallway

Dear Hallway,

My husband and I have been home three days after being out of town for about 6 months while he received a stem cell transplant aka bone marrow transplant, due to his CLL, diagnosed 1 year and 12 days ago. I have learned more about Leukemia and Stem cell transplants in the past year, then I ever wanted to know!

My husband is 54 and was diagnosed in Stage 4.
I do know that it is not the transplant so much that could be fatal to someone your age. Its the chemo and radiation treatments. They knock your system down so much, that if at a
later age, your body will be to tired to survive it .

I dont know what your prognosis is, and without going into to much detail about our experience, I sincerely and with all my heart, wish you the best. As far as four years goes, Ill take it. Heather
