Hello everyone, I am at my wits end, I have been in the liver failure forum for a while,my husband has cirrhosis, supposedly end stage, they( liver failure forum) has been a great help to me. But now the new thing is my husband has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, which has spread to his lungs. The issue i am concerned about is his doctors wants him in hospice, I always thought that hospice was for people who are bedridden, Robert although he is weak is still up and walking around even though he is slow. The oncology doc intimated that prognosis is 6-9 months, surgery in out of the question, no radiation or chemo, just try and keep him comfortable and watch his bowel movements,if he does not go as he should .he will probably be blocked and have to have surgery and possibley radiation and colostomy bag. Has anyone here experienced this as far as hospice when the patient is still up and around? I also noticed in the last week, that he is more confused than ever, like mentioning relatives like grandma, aunts, that have been gone for quite sometime, do not remember going to their funerals. IF anybody has answers please reply. thanks Orretta |
