Hi chica7490. I'm very sorry to hear about your mother and that you are finding this so hard to cope with. Sometimes we look for reasons when reasons don't exist, sometimes bad things just happen and it's how we cope that matters. I am sure no mother would want their child to suffer the worry that this diagnosis brings, and it's at times like these that your mother will need all the love and help she can get. Your mother will also realise that this is not easy for you, try and make this time in both of your lives special, show her you can be supportive and that she has no reason to worry about you. There is no shame in you being worried or needing support. If you can, try talking to other members of your family about how you have been feeling, if you can not talk to someone in your family, talk to your friends, you might be surprised how supportive people can be if they know you need help. By letting the people around you know how hard you are finding things you may find you are not alone and you just needed to tell them.

Hi, im going thru something very similar to what you are, im 17, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer 10 years ago, but thru the process of radiation, it was whittled down to nothing. but now he has secondary liver cancer from an unknown primary.

I try to have hope, and hopes that he may recover (some how Confused ) but i dont know realisticly, so i try to spend as much time with him as I can, and try to help him in every way possible.

I think the best thing you can do now is try to show your mother as much love and support as you can, and try to make her feel as if everything were normal. I hope i was helpful, very sorry to hear about your perdicament.

Hi,

I'm also 17 years-old, and am going through something a bit different. I've had Liver Cancer myself for over 2 years now, and have found dealing with it stressful at times. From my position, being the patient, the best thing anyone can do is just be there. It's so much easier to go through it all if you know that there is a support group behind you all the way. Just be available to talk, or just to listen. And keep offering to do both, feeling supported is very helpful.
