Hello, I am a homeschool mom and my 9th grade son has to "interview" someone who has had chemotheray or radiation treatment. We do not know anyone in the area and have no living family cancer survivors to ask.

If there is one of you on the board this morniing who has had these treatments, we would be very grateful if you would answer the questions he has created.

Thank you!

Shelia&Son

Questions:

1. How does radiation feel going through your body?

2. Is there a covering that you wear during radiation therapy--like when you have an x-ray--to prevent over exposure to oher areas of your body?

3. Are there precautions to take after receiving radiation or chemotherapy?

4. Were you reluctant to receive these types of therapy for your illness?

5. Do you encourage other people with your same illness to try these therapies?

People may react differently to these treatments.

1. How does radiation feel going through your body?
For me I didn't feel anything.

2. Is there a covering that you wear during radiation therapy--like when you have an x-ray--to prevent over exposure to oher areas of your body? No, I had to wear nothing for my upper body.

3. Are there precautions to take after receiving radiation or chemotherapy? After radiation none. After chemo none except to follow the doctor's instructions on taking meds, etc.

4. Were you reluctant to receive these types of therapy for your illness?
Absolutely. no one wants to have to go through these treatments but in order to fight and kill cancer then go for it.

5. Do you encourage other people with your same illness to try these therapies? yes, I've met many people with the same illness and also had the same treatments. But everyone has their own choice.
