Hello, I am in need of some answers...... I am probably freaking about nothing but it would help to hear it. For about 3 weeks now I have been losing my voice. I am not sick, I feel fine, Weather is not effecting me........ I see No reason for it. I am asthmatic and thought maybe because my step-daughter recently moved in and we have been playing catch-up it had something to do with all the laughing but that has slowed dramatically and I am not getting better. I have no pain although I do feel mild soreness come and go in my throat. My voice is cracking and squeaky and when I talk to load it goes all together, I also have a definate differance in my phlyem production. It's not so much that it is disgusting me or anything but it is enough that I noticed me clearing my throat much more then usual......

Anyway, that should be enough of an indication of what is going on with me so my question is........

Am I a fool? Or has anyone ever gone through or heard of or anything... similair symtoms? I don't believe I am hoarse just losing my voice for no apparent reason. I had my thyroid checked in june and it came back perfect so I think I can rule out thyroid cancer....... Assuming that was one of the things they checked (all I know is they "checked" my thyroid and it came back "perfect")

So is losing your voice a sign of some form of cancer?

Thank You.

Susan.

I'm as asthmatic too and sometimes lose my voice for apparently no reason. The symptoms you describe are exactly what happens to me from time to time. With your step-daughter moving in, you could be stirring up just enough dust into the air (even though you don't notice it) to cause the symptoms you're describing. You might want to talk to your doctor to be sure and to rule out allergies. I didn't know I had them until I got checked and found out that was what was causing the voice problem. Be on the safe side and have him check and please be sure to post to let us know what you find out. Smile

Hello

If you have a problem with your voice (dysphonia), it can be due to an infection (mostly viral), but also due to irritation, and less likely due to cancer. If this persists you should probably see a doctor to have it checked.

regards,
Leo
