Hi all, just to let you know that I'm heading over to Hulamom's place tomorrow to see her. I understand that she has been on pain med patches and they have kept raising the doses. They managed to get a hospital bed into the apartment and she has been serviced by hospice the last 4 or 5 weeks. I'll relay any comments you'all have.
God Bless

Well I got to see Hulamom at her home and chatted with her for most of an hour, I stayed longer next to her chatting with Ben her husband and was fed hamburgers by one of her sons, very good. She was alert and talked clear as she finished her soup and ate part of a burger, but started to fade away due to the pain medication. She seldom gets out of her bed any more. She is still a character, back smoking again, she said the electronic type were not strong enough for her. It has been over 6 weeks sense I had seen her last and she is not nearly as strong, the cancer on her liver is large enough that she feels it there physically, she calls it the critter. She was told not to allow anyone closer than three feet away and that's including her husband due to the chance of a getting a cold that could turn into pneumonia. So I told her The my self and the Cancer Forum friends give her hugs and best wishes and hopes the she is comfortable. I do not believe she has long to live but I'd say more than a month or two, it depends on the growth of the critter.

Thanks Dano. I'm sorry to hear that the cancer is growing in her liver to that extent. I truly hope they are able to keep the pain under control. <sigh> Leave it to her to give it a name! (We named my husband's port.)
I'm sure it was a difficult visit for you to make -- you're a prince of a man. Hula is one heck of a gal. I had to chuckle when I saw that she went back to the regular cigs --- heck -- why not? I'd be smoking like crazy in her situation, although I'm glad I've found the e-cigs.
Hugs to all here on the forum. God bless Hula and Ben. _________________ Husband diagnosed with NSCLC Stage IV. (Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer) Fought & lived 2 1/2 years with multiple lines of treatment.

I forgot to mention that she would like to try to get online but her computer is in the shop, it was slowing down a lot.....so I think she is getting headers put on! _________________ 55 year old male, Diagnosed Nov. 9,2007 with NSCLC IV with Mets to the lymphs and brain

Hi all, Hulamom is looking good. I stopped by to visit her last week and brought a meal for her and the family and spent some good time with her. She had her pain meds upped again and I was glad to catch her at a good time. She was in great humor and we had a fun talk. She gives her best to all of you here on the forum.
