I am on Taxotere 40mg/sq m every fortnight, plus 10mg prednisone daily.

Is this the protocol by you lot?

Panascope- I was on 150 mg IV Taxotere, once every 3 weeks and 10 mg Prednisone daily.

I guess that works out to 300 mg every 6 weeks for me and 120 mg for you.

Howard Hanson of www.hrpca.org says that he has been on 30mg/sq m Taxotere every week for years, and has never taken prednisone.

Is prednisone really necessary?

What is its purpose?

Hi, I do have a lot of experience w/ prednisone as I've taken it for years. It is a potent anti-inflammatory, but the website I checked on also says that it helps to lower blood calcium in people w/ cancers in the bones. Here is the link that I found:

It has a few happier side effects, like increasing appetite and providing a bit of a feel-good mentality, euphoria at higher doses. Ten mg/day is a fairly small dose.

If you have more specific questions I'd ask your doc.
