After being diagnosed with cervical cancer in February 2009, I went through 33 radiation treatments and 6 chemo (ciplastine). I went through the fatigue, digestive trouble and all of that wonderful stuff. But about 6 weeks after the end of these treatments, I suddenly faced daily pain in my joints. At first it was mainly in the hips, but now I feel it daily primarily in my hands and knees.
When I contacted the pivot nurse in the oncology department to ask about this, she said that yes, at my age (early 40s) is when arthritis often begins. I refuse to believe at this point that everything my body has been put through in the past 6 months is not the cause of this sudden onset of painful joints.
Has anyone else out there been through this or am I just losing my mind (and flexibility)?
Thanks!

I too have had painful joint/bone pain after radiation and now during chemotherapy. I'm on different chemo than you are but the symptoms sound the same. I was overly frustrated with my doctors because they couldn't pin point chemo (or anything else) as the cause. I had a bone scan done to eliminate the possibility of bone cancer and arthritis. All came up negative. I am close to ending my chemo treatments (3 more) but the joint/bone pain gets more and more severe. Primarily it is in the hips and shoulder areas. I have considered talking to a rheumatoid arthritis doctor but it seems obvious the chemo is doing it. My oncologist has prescribed 30mg of morphine and 5-500 of hydrocodone to alievate the pain. That is like using a cup of water to put out a house fire.
