am very confused, my father has been in hospital 4 times in the last 8 weeks. Originally complaining with pains under his chest, he was slightly yellow colour in his eyes, very tender around his tummy, he had several riggor attacks and raging temperature and being sick. They said it was possibly gall stones, he stayed in hospital for 6 days, they did ultrasound scans etc, they said his liver was very fatty and a bad colour, his bilirubin was at 55 when they discharged him.

He was to see another specialist as an outpatient, didn;t make that as he was very ill with the same symptoms less than 5 days later. So we got him back to casualty and they admitted him on the surgical ward, this time they said he would have a mrcp scan, he was in hospital for a week, no scan, he has another ultrasound, an endoscopy and then because he started to feel okay they took him off sickness drugs etc and discharged him, with diagnosis as - gastritis ???
they made him feel like he shouldn't be there, the consultant said he did not need an mrcp and there was definately no cancer to worry about and he should go home as people who were dying needed the mrcp's before my dad.

4 days later, same symptons, we all went back with him, hig bilirubin was 168 his temperature was 39 and he was really unwell, he had an mrcp scan last Thursday, the consultant said to my father that the family should come in and he would explain what they found. We all came in on the Friday and he said they had found a tumour on in the bile duct, and that the wall of the bile duct was very very thin, he also has a diverticulosis on the pancreas ????? they said it was very aggressive, he stayed in hospital and was dischaged last night, they said they could not do any more for him and he would be transferred to a specialist hospital, but nothing confirmed any further to us, they didn't actually say he has cancer but a nurse did say the cancer had not spread to me last night as he had another CT scan from what they could see.

Today we had to rush him back to hospital they have put him on the same ward, as the file and details have not yet been sent to the other hospital. His temperature is 39.6 he is being sick with dark blood and he feels really unwell..........

My dad has his prostrate removed 4 and a half years ago due to prostrate cancer.

Does anybody think he has cancer of the bile duct and at what stages it might be. He has lost 1 stone in weight since last week.......

We are very worried he is only 69 and normally a very fit and strong man.
Please help. thanks

HI
Sorry to hear about your father, you can ask to see the reports of any scans or tests and reports, so I would ask to see them and then You can see what is really happening, Always be proactive and ask questions of the primary Dr who is taking care of your father and keep pushing the doors open until you get answers. So important to to that ..

God Bless You all.................Rob
