Hi All,

Just signed on to this today.

I am a 33 female diagnosed with HL stage 2A in Aug 2009. Had 2 chemo treatments of AVBD, was supposed to have my third this past Thursday, was denied as my white blood count is too low, so it had been postponed till next week. I was shocked to find this out cause I feel fine.

Is there anything other then just sitting and waiting I could do to Increase my whites??

Thanks in ADvance

Hi mm

Welcome to the forum, the place where no one really wants to be. Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but dont panic as it can be treated successfully and the chemo has an excellent track record.

With NHL and R CHOP if your WBC goes down they give shots of neupogen / neulasta but it has an interaction with Bleomycin which is probably why they won't do this for you. It is however used in ABVD so perhaps you should ask your doctors if this is available for you and if not why not. It hurts a fair bit as it causes pain in the long bones of the leg and pelvis but the pain can easily be managed with OTC analgesics. I noted in other peoples blogs who are undergoing ABVD some get neulasta and some need to wait as you do. I'm not sure why this is so you do probably need to ask your doctor. I have a feeling it may have to do with lung function, but don't quote me on that.

Good luck and let us know what the doctor said, there are others here now and in the future that would appreciate it Smile

Is your weight stable?

Exercising??

Your body needs low stress and perhaps more fats and protein than you are used to to rebuild the immune system.
