Mobic and celebrex are very similar and are both cox 2 NSAID's. When I had RA I was on 400mg celebrex with no problems. Be aware both these drugs treat symptoms only and if you want to avoid joint damage done by RA you need to take DMARD's which include drugs like methotrexate, enbrel, remicade, rituximab or cortisone injections amongst others. Mobic and Celebrex have similar side effect profiles and celebrex is actually slightly better in that it causes less gastro side effects.
With all due respects to your RN friend you should be getting advice from a rheumatologist and not an RN. large studies have shown that people with rheumatoid arthritis who are under the care of a rheumatologist do significantly better and suffer much less permanent joint damage. FYI I had RA for 8 years prior to being diagnosed with DLBCL. The rituxam I received for DLBCL put me in remission for the lymphoma and the RA 
Good luck and get yourself a good rheumatologist.

I'm such a chicken - I ration out my Celebrex so much that a 60 pill bottle lasts me two years......

The last box I had expired  I don't need it anymore Its cheap over here because it is on PBS. It worked like magic when I first took it, and prior to it reaching it PBS status I used to get it for free from My Rheumatologist as he got crates of the stuff from the company to evaluate. I was very impressed with it . Doesn't stop joint damage though but it does help with pain control. I actually got chemo as well for the RA, that was methotrexate, the same stuff they gave you intrathecally. At the height of my RA I was taking a big handful of pills night and day. Boy am I glad that is all over

What are some good remedies for severe arthritis? My mom has really bad arthritis in her legs and is making her life miserable. Does anyone know of any kind of medication, natural remedies or exercises that could help?

Well I go to see the professor tomorrow I'm feeling good, shrugged off the swine flu in 5 days so the ol immune system must be good. Had my bloods done yesterday so basically its a short exam and a look at the path results and I am on my way. I'm thinking I have had enough scans to last a lifetime so at the moment I think that its bloods only from here on in. I can't tell you all how much I hate PET scans but I am sure 1 or 2 of you would agree.
Anyways I will post back with the results

Ouch! I don't see a corresponding 5 day lull in activity here, so you must have been quite the trooper! Hopefully I won't have to develop immunity the hard way as well...
Anyway, here's to some good news tomorrow, and many more trips around the sun! Just don't forget rule number one, and DEFINITELY don't forget rule number two! And...what other cliches are my chemo brain forgetting here?

No lull mind you it doesn't take much to sit at a computer especially if it sits on your lap in bed Anyway chemo was worse than the flu, it was quite mild really.
The panic stage is well and truly over. Will post back tonight our time with the good news . As for the trips around thats a mixed blessing these days, I take what I get

Well I saw the prof and as expected everything was fine. Bloods were good and no enlarged nodes. Next visit is February. I asked if he could tell from the bloods if anything was wrong and the reply was "not really" and then said it would be my watching my own body which would tell if it came back. I asked about further scans and he said we should do 2 more , one next July and another 12 months after that. He explained that if I get to 3 years the likelyhood that it will return is very low indeed. As usual he was very funny and made me laugh a lot, I love that guy
I'm starting to see a future beyond 5 years now

Hi all
Went in to see the Prof today and all is well. No scans or bloods just a checkup. Next checkup is in July and then I will get a PET scan and blood taken.I spoke at length with him regarding secondary cancers and relapse but the news is good. He said that in 30 years as a Hematologist he has never seen leukemia as a secondary to CHOP, it sometimes occurs with other chemo regimes but not with CHOP. Still got about a year and a half to go till I get to the 3 year mark and then the likelyhood of relapse drops right off although this week he started treating a person who relapsed dead on the 3 year mark. he also said he did treat a person a while ago who relapsed after 8 years but he considered this a new cancer rather than a relapse.
So all is good I can relax again until July
