I need some direction and honest input. A recent x-ray showed a large, dark area in my mom's lung. They performed a CT scan. The doctor has referred to it as Bronchial Carcinoma. I can't get a clear answer on if it has been diagnosed as such or that is a possibility. She goes in about a week to discuss options to perform a biopsy on it. I'm not sure if they already know it's cancer and they are doing the biopsy to identify type or doing it to rule out other possible causes. Again, I can't seem to get a clear answer from her. The spot in her lungs looked like it was surrounded by fluid and the CT showed it was a solid mass. I'd really appreciate ANY input from what it could be to treatment options. I'm just trying to get an idea of what we'll be dealing with.

ekayea, I am very sorry about your health concerns. The only way they will know for sure that it is cancer and, if it is, what type and stage it is will be by doing a biopsy. I do encourage you to go ahead with the biopsy. Without the above information you might not receive the correct treatment. Even if it is not a cancer, they need to do something to eliminate that dark area. Keep use updated.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
