In april 2007 I became very tired and started getting VERY bad headaches along with chest pain and such.. I went to an endocrinologist, and a GP and was referred to a neurologist for the headaches where i finally was tested for mono (only because my boyfriend found out he had gotten it from me apparently) and they said i had had it around the time i started feeling all that stuff (this was in july of 2007) Ever since then I am still extremely tired and still get the headaches even more so now. and have had a "lump-ish" thing on the back of my neck. My headches these days are a constant "normal" headache and then at least once every two days or so i get a migraine strength headache but they are not actual migraines. The lump is painless but pretty hard its bigger than a pea and is like right hat the base of my skull on the left side. i have been told that it was a contracted muscle and that it was just an enlarged lymph node (when i had an infection they didn't listen to the fact that i had had it for a long time) The fatique has gotten so bad that i would sleep anytime i wasn't working. i failed two of my three classes this semester at university because i was always way too abnormally tired to go to class or stay the whole time not to mention to study and even get close to being able to concentrate. i was recently put on ritalin after my sister was diagnosed with Tourettes/OCD/ADD and they believe i have ADD and mild OCD. The ritalin helps with the fatigue but its so bad that if i don't take my ritalin one day i sleep literally the entire day (like before basically). I have gone to see more than ten different doctors in the past two years. Including endocrinologist, internist, GP, neurologists, physical therapist (for the "contracted muscle" lump) among others. I went to the hospital once because I couldn't move my neck/head because of the headaches. Each doctor took different blood test along with the CBC which were always relatively normal or atleast nothing too off. Alot of the drs also ordered CTs and MRI which were all also normal. I at one point had a persciption for vicadin for the headaches and was having to drink a whole energy drink or two just to get through a four hour shift at work. My aunt died of breast cancer and my grandpa of pancreatic. My dad has hyper/hypothyroid problems.(got the tests done for that came back normal) I am 19 and don't think i should be feeling this way this young. I should have so much more energy. It worries me that they have done so many tests and don't know ANYTHING!! Recently I have not been hungry ever, I only eat when I get bored or realize I haven't eaten anything in a day or so. I am 5'7" and was a 125 pounds about two weeks (which is already like barely average weight)and now I am about 112 on a good day I can't afford to lose more weight and the doctors don't seem to do anything. Please if anyone knows any possibilities please tell me! i would really appreciate it!

Hi kell bell

Sorry to hear you are stressing yourself so much.

No one here can really help you and believe me that is the way you want it. You must take your cues from the doctors and worry if they are worried and relax when they are relaxed. Nothing you have said sounds like cancer and if you have had CT's and MRI's and they came up negative you really should have nothing to be concerned about.

Cancer is uncommon. Most people do not get cancer. That is a fact that should give you some hope. By all means seek help when you feel it is warranted but try not to worry yourself to death about something you may or maynot have.

Good luck and I wish you many more trips around the sun.

Well, let me quantify ChemoMan's statement a bit. If you live long enough, odds are you'll eventually get cancer. But at 19, cancer is indeed pretty rare.

Pretty much all you've told us are the physical symptoms you've felt. I think there's a good chance the answer lies in what was happening in the months before you started feeling your symptoms. I imagine there is a lot of stress in your life; I hope you find a way to deal with it.

Good luck!
