Diffuse Large B cell Lymphoma Feb/09 and CHOP+R diary

Trucking along - coping pretty well knowing it's the last time we hope for Chop+R.

Usual weird tastes and got the itchies a bit - gone now...
Appetite was pretty wild yesterday - not so bad today - one more round of steroids and that's all folks....

Gorgeous weather helps - got in a long ride on Father's day evening- so nice - 22 degrees and no traffic or wind on the back roads around the escarpment.

Want to work on building energy back and immune system up.

Any tips???

..... Re the immune system, Time will see you right. The usual advice holds of course i.e. eat good healthy food , get plenty of sleep and stay away from people with contagious diseases.

Single Dad - my hubby has it in his head that once he exercises, he has more energy later in the day...but he's only gone thru one round. The doc says to listen to your body...maybe it needs to rest to rebuild all those healthy cells! What's amazing is how each day can be so much different from the next. I'll be sending out the good vibes for healing and getting energy. Razz

Be careful and yes do listen but his body is really under severe assault and needs the energy for rebuilding ...

he's in different zone - he does not have the resources to call on as in normal health......this is very destructive therapy on purpose )

what applies outside chemo does not apply here to physiology..

Exercise is a cycle of tear down and then rebuild as well...you have competing events -

It's a careful balance of destruction of the problematic cells and ten rebuilding the blood counts.....takes a ton of body resources

If he is on the steroid kick he will feel like Charles Atlas for a few days - it's a fake..caution suggested...listen to the doc...eat.....after a while he won't absorb nutrients well.

It's a new world to learn for 4 months.

Good luck - tell him not to push the envelope - sleep is king - his body is being medically assaulted on purpose and needs resources to deal with it.

The big break throughs have been in balancing these side effects so the destruction is not so evident on a daily basis.

It used to be a stay in hospital event to have chemo I understand....just to deal with the side effects.

Supportive care during chemotherapy

Most of these agents caused very severe nausea (termed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in the literature) which, while not directly causing patient deaths, was unbearable at higher doses. The development of new drugs to prevent nausea (the prototype of which was ondansetron) was of great practical use, as was the design of indwelling intravenous catheters (e.g. Hickman lines and PICC lines) which allowed safe administration of chemotherapy as well as supportive therapy.

My mom is diffuse large b cell lenfoma..we don't know which degree, it will be definite tomorrow after the last investigation. I read some bad things from the internet such as this type lynphoma is the highest degree and it diffuses the other organs fast. I am getting so worried, and want to know if it is true or not, or is there the possibility to survive from this disese..I need your recommends..thanks a lot..and I hope you all will be healthy as soon as possible..

My husband has DLBCL and has completed three round of R-CHOP 21. I've been reading your diary and your last post was July 1. Where are you now? I hope you are doing well.

Yep doing fine thanks - just in the last stages of recovery from some preventative radiation treatment. Prophylactic only as I was declared cancer free.
Think internal and external sunburn on some of the more sensitive bits. Wink

Still a few issues with taste post chemo but looking forward to 2 months in South Africa for some serious R&R come January.

Hope the diary was useful.

I visit often and get an alert when there is a post so feel free with questions.
I suggest a diary - I was surprised how many friends and clients wanted to read it. ( I told very few about my cancer until after it was gone ).
