I am desperately looking for positive stories on this type of cancer. My mom (age 54) was diagnosed a year ago with Endometrial Cancer. It was Stage 1a. We were thrilled and nothing further after the hysterectomy was done because she was at such an early stage. Now, she has a mass next to her bladder which is cancer. Doctors did a PET scan and they show ONE lymphnode invaded in her pelvis.... no other spots!! Everything I am reading online is NEGATIVE!!!! I would love to hear from people or hear a story where someone lived a long while with recurrent endometrial cancer!! Is this too far-fetched? There has to be some?

HELP!!! Tell me your positive stories/or stories you know

shortiee31, I am very sorry about your mother's Endometrial Cancer. Since it has spread to her lymph noted it is, unfortunately, no longer a stage 1a. I do not a personal story to encourage you since I have not and cannot have that type of cancer. However, there are others here who do. I just want to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Shortiee.

First let me say how sorry I am about your Mom. Seems there should be several treatment options available. What is her doctor recommending? I, too, have been on this roller coaster and would love to get off. Although my story is not exactly a positive one, it is not quite negative yet either so I will tell it.

I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a total hysterectomy in 10/05. It was stage 2A grade 3 and I was advised that the hysterectomy was sufficient and I would need no further treatment. At the time of the hysterectomy, lymph nodes and the wash were checked and all came back clear of cancer.

In 11/07 I experienced a recurrence in the vaginal area and was treated with radiation. I had 28 sessions of external radiation and 6 treatments of brachytherapy (internal radiation). I was sure that this would kill those pesky cells.

In January I was diagnosed with another recurrence in the same area. Next week I will be hospitalized for in-patient brachytherapy in hopes that this will kill these cells.

Please don’t give up hope. As I said before, there is a good deal of treatment available to her. Very few people know my story and that I have cancer. With the exception of the time missed for recovery from surgery, I have continued to work a full time job and those that I work with do not know that I am fighting cancer.

Take care of yourself and I wish you and your mom the very best.
