I am trying to sort through all of this. Around Thanksgiving '08, my grandmother, who is 75 years old, was having some stomach pain and spotting. My mom took her to the family doc and she thought it sounded like cancer. She was referred to the local GYN doc who also felt it was cancer. Within a week or so she was referred to a gyn-oncologist who did another exam. He ordered a TAH and de-bulking procedure. Her uterus, ovaries, tubes, and appendics were removed and cancer was found on her uterus, ovary, and appendics. In addition there are some other tumors that they could not remove (I think they're located on the omentum). The recovery from the surgery has been going well - she's just a little weak and her appetite is coming back one day at a time. The GYN-oncologist wants her to pursue a progressive sandwich therapy of carboplatin and paclitaxel with radiation therapy. I am very concerned that she will become weaker and this may be worse for her than not doing treatment at all. I just don't want her to suffer. She has a positive attitude and her spirits are up. My family and all of her friends are very supportive and will be there for her during the entire journey.

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? I am not sure what to expect.

Thank you in advance.

Hi concernedgrandso:

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I do not have an answer to your question, but maybe someone will come who has had a similar experience. I just wanted to welcome aboard, and know your grandmother will be in my prayers.

Rhonda
