A new study shows that a history of smoking affects survival in patients with cancer of the head and neck. Patients who had smoked fewer than 100 cigarettes in their lifetime were three times more likely to have better overall survival, disease-specific survival, and recurrence-free survival compared with patients who had a current or previous history of regular smoking.

Hi Leo

Re the article on "history of smoking significantly reduces survival rates in patients with cancer of the neck and head" ...

I understand that this is further proof not to take up smoking, or to quit right now, but - if I am right in thinking this - if this forum is for cancer patients and their families, is this the right place for such further "bad" news?

If I had cancer of the neck or head, and was or had been a smoker, would I want to read that article in this environment? Just a thought ...

By the way, I think your forum is fantastic, and thank you for making the effort.
