I haven't posted lately, since husband finished Stereotactic. We won't get a new brain scan until Oct. 2nd. Today we got the results from PET and found out it is still spreading and tumor grew 1cm. I think I may go crazy, I broke down and threw stuff at this D*(& cancer. It has spread to medialstinal, new tumor on lower lober, paratracheal, femur head and ulna. I have held it together and today don't know if I can catch my next breath, let alone get up and start all over again. Sorry, I usually try to post upbeat - but today I just can't!
Please send prayers our way, we need them. _________________ As long as there is Life, there is Hope.

Oh no!! Damn cancer!! I'm so sorry, just so very sorry. This is hard to swallow when the scans come back with progression. I'm sure they have figured out another game plan. In the meantime, throw stuff, stick your face in a pillow and scream as loud as you can, then get back on that roller-coaster for another round. Arrrghhh!
You CAN do this and will do it because you love your husband and it's all about getting him in the best possible emotional/mental/physical condition for new treatment. I know that YOU know this being a nurse, but it's a lot different when the patient is your husband. My SIL was a nurse and did this with my husband's brother. It's a tough spot. How is he handling this news?
Once they get the new treatment started, it will give you a sense of purpose and direction again for the hopes that this will chase the cancer back for more time again.
I will continue to pray for you and your husband as I do all of the folks in our community. Have hope and remember that God knows what is in your heart even when you are upset and angry at times. It's okay. He's got big shoulders to carry us during the low parts of this journey.
I'm sending warm thoughts and big hugs. (Don't you ever worry about posting "upbeat" -- we are here for ALL of the situations that arise. We cheer for the good news, send hugs for the bad, and always, always have plenty of prayers and hopes.)

I am so sorry for you and your husband at this latest twist. As pjb says, they will have another course of action planned and hopefully it will get underway as soon as possible.
Don't worry about screamimg out as it is worse to keep the feelings inside, likewise, you don't have to be upbeat on here.
Take care of yourself please. You are both in my thoughts. |

I yelled and screamed and snotted and cried - feel much better. Ready for next step and go kick some A@@!! Today I clocked in for work and had a sea of co-workers supporting me, then someone went and got me some jeans and shirt and my boss took me out for the day on his motorcycle (with hubbies permission) It was wonderful to let someone else make decisions, buy me lunch and let me NOT talk. I got some sun, R & R and now I'm ready for battle. We go Friday for new gameplan. Hubby is handling news well, he is waiting for consult with MD. This weekend our "baby" turns 12, so we are planning on enjoying family and turning cancer "off" for the weekend. Thank you so much for the thoughts, prayers and hugs - I felt each and every one. Love to all - I return all the prayers for each of you walking this same path and wild rollercoaster ride.
PBJ- Yes being a nurse is often a curse - because medical "smarts" and my heart often conflict. I tend to over analyze and drive everyone crazy. _________________ As long as there is Life, there is Hope.

Hello sgodshall,
I join the others in letting you know that my prayers are with you as well.
I too am a nurse and I totally understand about the medical vs the heart in caring for a loved one with cancer.....it's very emotional...
so glad to hear you have a good support system...continue to lean in on them...
Have a great weekend with your daughter _________________ Trudy

My husband will be starting a clinical trial with Tarceva and Pazopanib. We are hopeful that this will be the start of turning this cancer around. We did get some good news - his brain tumors have shrunk slightly and NO new lesions. YEAH!! He has started Zometa for the bone mets and he has 0 pain from this - so again YEAH!
I have posted a verse that has helped me this week and thought I'd share.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
