I am 67, had slight anemia 2 years ago prompting a ct scan, which showed som slightly enlaged nodes but not over 1 cm. Recently I was sent for another CT scan and it showed further growth in one of the nodes to 3cm. I got a pet scan and the result was that the node was not "red hot" but ther was some glucose uptake I needed to have it out and biopsied. If it is negative, I plan to get a second opinion and maybe treatment at one of the regional cancer centers (UCLA or UCSD). Since there is no diagnosis yet, it is premature now. My question is: Is there a way or a need to preserve tissue of the biopsy for a second pathology study or do all pathology labs do the same thorough job?

Hi stew41

You would need to ask your doctor, the pathology lab or the Cancer clinic of your choice if it is possible to do what you want. If it is not possible another biopsy would be needed.
I had a false negative on a biopsy and lost 4 months of treatment time so I would follow this up if I were you. You have the benefit of my hindsight Wink

Good luck !
