Hi I am 30 years old. I had my uterus and cervix removed 4 years ago but still have ovaries. I found a small hard lump in 10/04 and went for mamm and US. The lump I felt is a sebaceous cyst. US found another solid hypoechoic nodule measuring 4mm. I cannot feel that one. They told me to come back in 6 months. I went on 4/14/05 to have another US and the nodule has grown slightly and now there is another one. Again very small but described as solid hypoechoic. I go today for FNA. Is FNA going to tell me for sure that this is b9? What does solid mean? What does hypoechoic mean?

Thank you

Sorry...I can't answer your question but try not to worry. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers for B9 your way.

I'd recommend finding and buying or borrowing a copy of Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book and reading about FNA in there to figure out whether you prefer FNA, core biopsy, or excision biopsy and to get an understanding of what stereotactic biopsy is.

"solid" is a term used in radiology to indicate that whatever that lump is, it is not fluid-filled; fluid-filled would be interpreted as benign. However, not all solid lumps are cancerous, which is why a biopsy is necessary to say for sure.

Let us know how things go for you.

You could also go to mayoclinic.com and search under breast cancer, and then read what it has to say about different types of biopsies.
