I had a lumpectomy for a benign fibroadenoma 3.5 years ago while lactating. Ever since the lumpectomy I have had pain in my right breast. It is not a focal pain although there is a small spot just below the incision that stings slightly. THe pain radiates through my shoulder, down my arm. It almost feels numb or tingly at times. It is very annoying. Six months ago I had an annual mammogram. The pictures from the rt breast were questionable after being compared with prior mammograms. There was a spot that was described as an asymmetric focal density. I went back for more pictures and an U/S and it was determined (with markings) that the spot was the actual scar tissue from the first lumpectomy. Prior mammograms had not included the scar tissue area because it was so far up toward my arm pit. I had a full clinical examination at the time. So here I sit with pain still in this right breast, shoulder and arm. I want to think it is something like arthritic pain but want to make sure I did everything to rule out a malignancy. I'm not sure where to go now for further evaluation. The pain I have does come and go but is not cyclical and is definitely only on one side. Any suggestions? Confused
